Race Entry Codes
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, known as the Runner’s Rite of Spring, is a 48-year-old Washington, DC “bucket list” race. The event is part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and attracts runners from all 50 states and 20 foreign countries. The event is so popular, it sells out in December each year. There are more than 500 credit union volunteers on race day and over half of the 16,000 runners are credit union members.
Credit unions that sponsor the race receive a number of Guaranteed Race Entry Codes based on the level of sponsorship. These highly coveted entry codes guarantee entry into the either the Ten Mile Run or the 5K Run-Walk for any person who uses the code. These codes eliminate the uncertainty of using the general lottery process in early December or, perhaps more importantly, once the Ten Mile Run and 5K Walk-Run are closed, guarantee the user a spot in the sold-out event.
Credit Unions are free to use race entry codes however they wish including giving them to credit union officials, staff, credit union members, suppliers, etc. They could be used in individual credit union fundraising efforts for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by raffling or auctioning them off after the lottery has closed.
